⏱️Take a 2-Minute Break with … Carmen Salgado

⏱️There’s only one word that comes to mind when referring to Carmen Salgado: fearless. After all, she volunteers, she’s traveled the world, and four years ago, she traded one coast for another.

When she moved from California to Florida, she packed up Frankie, her wirehaired terrier mix, and made the drive in order to be closer to family. She’s not quite ready to say the Sunshine State beats the Golden State, but she’s warming up to it.

🏅 What would you say it takes to succeed at Verizon?

Confidence and authenticity. Never be afraid to ask questions, be curious or be honest.

🎤 Do you have any hobbies?

I don’t know if I’d call them hobbies, but I like to do karaoke, and I collect shot glasses from everywhere that I travel.

📍Where have you traveled?

I just completed a trip to Egypt, and I’ve been to Mexico, Belize, Colombia, Bali, South Africa, Greece, and Brazil. I always come back with a tattoo from the places that I’ve gone, just so that I can have a little piece of it with me to remember.

🖋️ What’s the best tattoo you have?

The one that I just got in Egypt. It is an ankh with the Eye of Horus.

😋 Which country has the best cuisine?

Not a country, but definitely the Puerto Ricans do. They’ve got it all.

📖 What’s the best book you’ve read?

I have two: “The Four Agreements” and “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior.”

📽️ Best movie?

“The Breakfast Club.”

🫶Do you volunteer?

I’ve been volunteering for the Human Rights Campaign since about 2008. I am on the HRC, Orlando Central Florida Steering Committee as the co-chair, and I am also on the Board of Governors. And, I’m the PRISM Regional Programs and Events Chair for PRISM South.
